You know how it’s often the little things, the small moments, that mean the most? As my husband and I waited for winter to end and our spring vacation to arrive, we began to take day trips from home, exploring places up to two hours away that we have never been to before. Having both lived in the area all our lives, it’s not easy to find new destinations close by. But we have had some fun, interesting field trips over the last few months.
As I turn my attention to preparing for our next air travel journey, I realize that what we have been doing, local road tripping, has gotten the short end of my adventure scale. Sure, I LOVE a week-long excursion that requires boarding a plane, but grabbing the binoculars, my trekking poles and a couple bottles of water, loading them in the car, finding a good breakfast spot to kick off the day, is not to be undervalued.
Yes, it’s a big old world. But it’s also a big old world not far from home.
