Sitting down with a new book is a somewhat spiritual experience for me. There is joy and excitement and great reverence for the author. The journey from thoughts and ideas to a published book that strangers will buy or borrow from their library and hold in their hands all around the world is impressive, inspiring and humbling. Creating something out of nothing always is.
Now, on this first day of 2018, we all have the chance to do just that. Life will happen to us if we don’t take charge and make it happen for ourselves. I have plans and dreams and I must work hard and stay focused to see them become reality. My plot is going to thicken, new locales and characters will be introduced and sharing my story will be my story.
The thrill I get when I start a novel is how I feel today on January 1st about the months ahead. I will read many good books this year. And aspire to one really great life.
