Piper, in direct opposition to his mom, loves the laundry bag. He gets so excited when he sees it. He always wants to sit on its side and has tolerated me setting him in on the top of the clean wash. He goes crazy with excitement when I dump the contents out in one big pile.
I have written many times about the critical role Piper has played in my healing and survival since my vision loss. But make no mistake, he also brings me so much joy while I’m doing the mundane things. I won’t go so far as to say his enthusiasm for the laundry rubs off on me but he makes me laugh while folding my husband’s tighty-whities. And after 25 years of that chore, that is saying something.
I don’t know if you can see it in this photo but a little earlier Piper had his weekly shower with his dad and wasn’t completely dry when I took the picture. Wet bird, in case you don’t know, smells like wet dog. Better Piper than the clean wash.
