Built by Thomas Shinn in 1712, the Shinn Curtis Log House is made of hand-hewn logs. The Curtis family took possession in 1802, continuing to own the home for almost 150 years. As the family grew, rooms were added around the log house, as well as two additional floors
The surrounding house was demolished in 1967, revealing the encased log cabin. Now owned by the Mount Holly Historical Society, it was eventually moved to its present location in the Mount Holly municipal parking lot.
I would have loved to go inside and sit for a bit. Maybe write a story or two. After all, I am sure these logs would have many a tale to tell.
