Let me preface this story by assuring you that I have never nor will I ever use AI to write my stories. EVER. I started this website in 2011, long before most of us could have imagined such a thing as Artificial Intelligence. I write because I love to, and am, for whatever reason, compelled to do so.
I do, on occasion, ask AI for help with how to do something in WordPress, the software used for this website, or how to create a graphic using Canva.
I have found that when doing this, asking AI for assistance, I must often request the same thing repeatedly, changing just a word or two in the hope that it will make a difference in the response generated by AI.
One afternoon, after spending close to an hour going back and forth, I, in frustration, questioned AI, as if I was in conversation with a human, as to what I could do that I hadn’t been, in order for it to give me me what I was asking for. I received a reply that I should just live with it.
This, my dear friends, is why the robots will never take over the world. Humans persevere, we are not content with “good enough,” and perhaps best of all, we are stubborn. If we know or even suspect something is possible, nothing will stop us from persisting until we achieve our goal, such as, I don’t know, CREATING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.
