The Pacific Northwest is a vastly different environment from where I live in Pennsylvania. I love taking in every bit of its natural beauty when I am in the Seattle area. The trees, the water, the humongous snow-covered mountains, it is all spectacular.
One day, while driving around Manchester, Washington, my husband pulled into a parking lot along the water. The upper layer of sky showed the weather that was to come, but the level below was bright with white, puffy clouds. And there, in our exploration of the scenic, quiet community on the Kitsap Peninsula, was the city of Seattle, with Puget Sound at its feet. The Space Needle stood apart from the skyline; when I later enlarged the photo Mister Rain had taken, it brought to mind a teacher addressing their students. However, what the iconic 600-foot tall tower actually is to the city is true north, not geographically, but as a compass point to orientate yourself in the Emerald City.
The relationship between nature and humans is not the best, usually due to the latter. Thankfully, there are times when the two work together to create a lovely, picture perfect moment.
