Although my husband and I are together much of he time, both of us are usually quite busy. It is extremely rare that either of us witnesses the other in a private moment.
During a trip in the Seattle area, I came out from the bedroom of our rental home to find Mister Rain standing on the large deck, looking out over the water.
While I watched him without his knowledge, he remained in the same spot for quite some time, long enough for both the small and large ferries to pass by.
I have no idea what was going through his mind (it is killing me to refrain from adding “probably not a lot” but I would never do that), yet the image of him unmoving on the sizable, empty deck, perched directly above the Puget Sound, presented itself to me as a special moment. Grabbing my phone to quickly take a photo before that moment passed, I looked at what the camera had captured. My husband appeared to be the only person on this planet.
Mister Rain is a happy person, not one to worry or stress about much. Even still, his complete and utter contentment struck me as a beautiful thing.
I will admit, I envy his carefree daily attitude, but I was not jealous to see him like this, instead, it gave me the warm fuzzies. And even though he appeared to be alone in the world, I was grateful to be there to see it.
