Let It Know

Posted on July 7, 2026 By Sister Rain

Let’s talk about something you know but you can – wait for it – lose sight of: What you don’t know. You know?

When  my vision loss occurred, although I received excellent medical care, I was not provided any resources for coping with my new life. It would be several years until I was mentally and physically able to forge my own path.

It is never easy to look for that which you don’t even know exists, asking the right questions is extremely difficult when you have no idea what the possible answers could be. I have never felt more blind, and I’m not talking about my sight.

Progress was made, albeit slower than that of the hare’s opponent, but in the end, at least in that initial race for help, I, like the tortoise, had some wins. Time passed, knowing continued. Unfortunately it did not fall out of the sky.

Fully schooled in the fight required to learn, I should not be surprised that almost 14 years after becoming visually impaired, I find out by accident hat movie theaters provide Audio Description Headsets. It was an incredible discovery to regain something I thought was gone forever. (Click here for Sister Rain Wears A Headset.)

In 2026, so much is possible. I, WE, should never forget this. If there is something you need, research if there is a way to get it. If something has become lost, see if you can find it. Don’t become complacent, don’t leave well enough alone. Well enough is not well at all.

You can’t make it snow. But you can make it know.
