It is always fascinating to watch Piper move a toy to exactly where he wants it. The other day I noticed he was sitting between his sneaker and his drum. I don’t know if he did that on purpose or if it’s just where they all ended up during play. I got the sense, though, that he was very happy about the situation of where he was situated.
Material things aren’t as important as Piper’s health, of course, but toys are a big part of his enrichment and well being. A bored bird is an unhealthy bird. The same can be said for those of us without feathers. Piper is a great reminder that we should surround ourselves with the things that bring us pleasure, things that keep us engaged. Sure, we all have responsibilities and work to do, yet, like Piper, we have to find a comfortable place in the middle.
