Although we have a wall calendar in the kitchen, that is more for my husband than me. I cannot see it plus I keep pretty much my every move on my iPhone anyway. He does not, relying on wifendar and the monthly pages hanging in our kitchen.
I love always having an accounting of my days in my hands, super-using the iOS calendar app. Admittedly it is a different experience than the paper method. When I worked in corporate America I had a wall calendar, a whiteboard and a desk calendar blotter. Eventually I had a Day-Timer, next was a Palm Pilot, followed by a BlackBerry then finally an iPhone, purchasing my first right before my vision loss. I rely on electronic input to audit the date as well as the time of year, Instagram ads doing their part to alert me to upcoming holidays.
When summer arrived I swapped out my “Hello, Spring” small decorative garden flag for a fabric sign with a patriotic, flowers and birds motif. I store my flags on three garden flag hangers in chronological order and as I looked for the one that I wanted, I realized that these flags also shepherd me through the year.
Time waits for no one but a snowman, bunny, watermelon, pumpkin and Santa patiently mark time until their turn, while marking time for me.
