A personal question, please. How do you manage your passwords?
I know, I know. Touchy subject. Everyone seems to have their own process, either keeping them in their head, storing them in their phone, entering them in an app developed just for this purpose. And then there is the approach of writing them down somewhere. This is my husband’s modus operandi. The problem, of course, with any o these methods is that you have to keep the data up to date. Otherwise, it’s all for naught.
Mister Rain has been using a small tablet to store his sign-on and password information. It is a constant, painful activity to observe when he has to look up a log-in. For Christmas, I wanted to get him a better tool, purchasing a password notebook with tabs and sections . . . for both our sakes. He loved it and has spent countless hours entering all the information into the new book, often having to sign out of an app or website and then sign back in to determine what he had previously assigned to it.
I tell myself it will all be worth it once this project is done. Things often have to get worse before they get better. It is ironic that all this is to prevent getting hacked yet we, ourselves, can’t get in!
