A Woman Walks Into A Blog . . .
Even Though She Can No Longer See It

Welcome!
Sister Rain began when I was searching for a job during the recession, documenting the painful process so many of us were going through. Once I returned to the workforce, I kept up with the site, writing about home and work.
And then in November of 2012, without warning, I woke up blind in my right eye. The following day my left eye was dark, as well. Completely without vision for a month, I spontaneously regained some sight, but remain visually impaired. With this drastic change to my life, there was much to write about.
In the fall of 2023, after some time away from this website, I rededicated myself to Sister Rain, giving it a fresh look, including a beautiful new logo. Since my vision loss, I have struggled to find a purpose, only to discover it has been here all along.
In February 2024, I started publishing new stories about my passion for travel, navigating the world without much sight, observations on life, marriage (shout out, Mister Rain!), my parrot, Piper, and American history.
When I am not writing, I am advocating for the visually impaired.
I am so glad you’re here!
With A Little Sight And A Lot Of Heart,
Sister Rain
