Although it is Halloween, I assure you that Piper does not need an exorcism. Like most parrots, Piper can turn his head around 180 degrees due to his flexible neck and greater number of neck vertebrae than humans. This allows parrots in the wild to scan their surroundings for predators and to preen their own feathers efficiently.
Piper also puts this ability to good use when he sleeps. He will tuck one of his feet into his lower breast feathers, turn his head around, and then bury it into his back. Zzzzzzz.
So Piper is not possessed. He just has a bendy, stretchy neck. I will admit, though, that sometimes when he has one of his screaming fits, an exorcism doesn’t seem like such a bad idea.
