Where They Play In LA

No trip of mine and my husband’s would be considered a complete success without some element of sports. And so, on our final day of our week in California, before our last supper and the return of our rental car in preparation for an early flight back to Pennsylvania from Los Angeles the next day, we drove by legendary Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers were playing at home that evening, the area was active because of it, as we took some photos.

Our next stop was SoFi Stadium, the home field of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. It was an impressive looking NFL stadium. No one was around on this May afternoon, it was fun to take it in by ourselves. Always anxious for football season to start, being there somehow made training camp seem closer than it actually was.

As we circled SoFi in our car, a gasp came from the driver’s seat. Mister Rain had seen the NFL Network’s Headquarters. He parked in front of the complex, walking towards the building. I yelled to him from my open window, “Go inside if the door will open. Just tell whoever is in there you wanted to set foot in the NFL Network.” In a normal situation, this would not be my husband’s MO. All bets are off, though, when sports are in play. I was surprised and a little disappointed on his behalf that he didn’t taken my suggestion.

Continuing around the next corner, my husband abruptly pulled up to the curb. “Oh my god. There’s the field.” He had spotted the mini football field outside the NFL Network headquarters, used as a broadcasting set. The announcers often demonstrate plays on this field, retired players taking off their suit jackets to run a route. This time I didn’t encourage him to jump the fence, something told me he just might, resulting in an ejection from freedom, enforced not by a referee but a law enforcement officer.

I am glad we made the time to see these stadiums, Mister Rain even more so. While it is true we don’t root for the Dodgers, Rams or Chargers, actually despising their players when our team faces them in competition, we love the games.
