When I sign on to this blog, I have three chances to get the logon right before I am blocked out of it. I have never made more than one wrong attempt and believe me when I tell you that the first unsuccessful effort puts such fear in me that I type so slowly and carefully the second time you would think I’ve never used a keyboard before.
What if, in life, we only got three chances to get something right? We would be paralyzed by the possibility of making mistakes, of losing the ability to reach our goals, to try and try again. I totally understand the need for cyber security; you would be shocked to know how many thwarted log ins have been made on this blog by hackers all over the world. But three strikes and you’re out is a rule that should only apply on and in the fields of baseball and technology.
We are taught to give others a second chance but we also need to learn that we ourselves have unlimited opportunities to get something right. Because the moment we give up is the moment we lock ourselves right out of our future.
