SISTER RAIN NANTUCKET WEEK X2
4 / 10
I may have previously shared with you that my husband loves to go to grocery stores when we travel. Upon arrival at our lodging, he unloads the car and as he says, “Gets out of her way,” so that her (me) can unpack, something her (me) likes to do immediately.
In Nantucket, Mister Rain went to Stop & Shop for the essentials we would need in our rental house for the week. When he returned, he reported that for a Tuesday night the market was crowded. He had been unable to find a shrink-wrapped case of water like we buy at home, but he saw a cardboard case of Nantucket H2O, similar to a box that a case of beer would come in. When he went to pay for everything at self-checkout, the water cost $35 for a quantity of 24. It was so busy at the store he did not feel like taking it back then having to find something else. He also thought it would be a great story; the mileage we have gotten out of it has far exceeded his expectations.
Opening the case, we found that rather than the water being in plastic bottles, the environmentally conscious island of Nantucket’s H2O is in cartons, similar to the milk we drank as children. And it is from California and Georgia.
We brought quite a few cartons home with us. Whenever I would get together with a friend, I would give her one after telling her the tale. I made sure my husband was aware of what I was doing; he would inevitably “yell” at me, then text my friend, demanding the water be returned. He was kidding but pretended he was serious. Very serious. Not a single carton was returned. I love my friends. They are as precious to me as $35 water.
