Make sure the holidays stay festive and fun by keeping these threats out of your pet’s reach:

  1. Household decorations: Broken ornaments can cause lacerations, while accidentally ingested tinsel and ribbon can cause intestinal obstructions.
  2. Candles: Open flames + curious pets = disaster waiting to happen.
  3. Decorative lights: Even when turned out, lights pose shock hazards if they’re chewed on.
  4. Human Treats: From chocolate, nuts and raisins to onions, garlic and yeast dough, toxicity dangers abound when it comes to holiday foods.
  5. Plants: Lilies, holly berries, rosemary and mistletoe are all common holiday plants that can be poisonous to pets.

These cautiionary tails were sent to me by Piper’s doctor’s office. He wanted me to share them with you.
