Make sure the holidays stay festive and fun by keeping these threats out of your pet’s reach:
- Household decorations: Broken ornaments can cause lacerations, while accidentally ingested tinsel and ribbon can cause intestinal obstructions.
- Candles: Open flames + curious pets = disaster waiting to happen.
- Decorative lights: Even when turned out, lights pose shock hazards if they’re chewed on.
- Human Treats: From chocolate, nuts and raisins to onions, garlic and yeast dough, toxicity dangers abound when it comes to holiday foods.
- Plants: Lilies, holly berries, rosemary and mistletoe are all common holiday plants that can be poisonous to pets.
