After I found out that movie theaters offer Audio Description (AD) devices (click here for Sister Rain Wears A Headset), I wondered if a similar accessibility feature was available at home. It turns out that major streaming platforms offer Audio Description (AD) too.

Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, Hulu and Apple TV+ all have broad libraries of movies and TV shows with this accessibility feature.

Audio Description can typically be toggled on or off in the same way that you change subtitle languages and is usually labeled as “English – Audio Description” or indicated by an AD or Audio Description icon.

So whether you are wearing a headset in a theater or comfy clothes at home, follow the yellow brick road back to the movies.
