Something I always take with me on a trip is a kit consisting of two sets of plastic utensils (in case of take-out), a few grocery store plastic bags, several Ziploc, a couple sandwich bags, binder clips (for open snack bags), rubber bands (needed them once, didn’t have), scissors, safety pins, wet wipes and Sweet’N Low (for my coffee).
Like an art collection, these items have been carefully curated over decades of travel. It doesn’t matter how many nights I will be away, this kit is the first thing I pack, placing it in the zippered pocket inside the lid of the suitcase. The type of lodging I will find myself in doesn’t impact its pack either; hotel or rental home, in the luggage it goes.
Since its inception, the kit has been kept in a Ziploc bag; the individual items in their own small sandwich bags within. Recently I made the decision to upgrade to a small storage pouch with comparments and am excited to take it on its inaugural run.
I call this collection the Misc Kit. Yes, it is a potpourri of randomness, but I know if I didn’t have it when I travel, I would Miss It.
