Piper Can Be A Little Squirrely

Piper will carry part of his afternoon snack, Nutri-berries, up to the top of his mansion (we never call it a cage), the area known as the penthouse. This is a relatively new behavior in the last year. To see him carry a snack in his mouth almost the size of his head while using both feet to climb up the rungs is a remarkable thing.

We were aware that there were remnants of Nutri-Berries on the upper deck tray of the mansion, but during a recent weekly deep cleaning we discovered a pile of treat pieces.

I assure you that Piper gets enough to eat. Any Nutri-Berries he doesn’t finish from snack time goes in one of his food bowls in the mansion when we get him ready for bed. He does not need to store nuts for the winter as if he were a squirrel.

Sometimes I think: Piper is a strange bird. But then I think: Aren’t we all?
