The Force Is With Me

life
Posted on June 3, 2026 By Sister Rain

I am not much of a jewelry wearer, I even take my wedding rings off at home. I put them on when I go out, as well as a stud earring. If going out out, say to dinner or an event, I usually add another ring to my right hand.

Thinking about packing for an upcoming trip, I was reminded that I don’t like to take any of my rings with me when I travel, the few that I have are too important to me to risk losing. But I do enjoy something on my other 4th digit.

I have seen silicone rings before and started there. Whatever I chose had to be blue, as close to Sister Rain Blue as I could find. My search led me to a result I was instantly drawn to, returning to A Force For Good’s website again and again. Initially attracted by the Cobalt color and the general aesthetic of the ring, I was pleased to see the $38 price. As with anything that has a unique look, there has got to be a unique story associated with it. So it is for the Live Ring.

The website explains that the ring is “inspired by our planets breathtaking auras and stunning bio luminescence, our rings are infused with rare-earth elements that naturally absorb and radiate light.” This was all a little woo-woo for me, but the next part was not. “This serves as a subtle motivational reminder to always stay hopeful and remember what is most important in our lives.” Still a bit woo-woo but a woo I can woo behind, for sure.

Ring sizing can be difficult when purchasing online, not everyone’s interpretation of a size 7 is the same. With a ring made of silicone, this isn’t an issue because there is give. In this case, two kinds. Every ring purchased helps provide clean water and sanitation to communities where it is not immediately available.

As promised by the website, the ring was comfortable, even when grabbing my suitcase handle or holding my trekking poles on our inaugural trip together.

If all this wasn’t enough, there is one feature that feels like the perfect accessory for a visually impaired person. The three lines on the band subtly glow. It certainly is not bright enough to help me navigate, but the idea of finding the light in darkness is very personal to me.

Whether 18k gold or a thin width of silicone, your jewelry should first and foremost be meaningful to you.
