Friday night, 6:30 p.m. and I’m doing my “long” job search which I do once a week and takes over an hour, longer if I actually find something to apply for.
I had a busy week and that’s why I’m doing this on a Friday night. It has nothing to do with the fact that I am an old married woman with no social life. Did I mention we haven’t had dinner yet or even thought about it?
I remember when I was single and in my early 20’s a local radio station would play “Everybody’s Working For The Weekend” at the dot of 5 p.m. every Friday night. I would roll down the windows and pop my sunroof even if it was winter, turn the radio up as loud as it would go and there was speeding involved as I left my company’s parking lot.
I still play my radio loud, drive a little fast (in some people’s opinions) and have been known to have my moonroof open (even our car roofs have moved on) with the heat on. But that 20-year-old Sister Rain could have never imagined this over-40-year-old Sister Rain doing the job search on a Friday night.
Ironically, I’m listening to iTunes on my computer as I write this and Leann Rimes’ song “Life Goes On Is” playing. Ain’t that the truth?
