My mom-in-law’s birthday is this month and over the weekend I mentioned to my husband that I have a gift idea for the occasion. We got sidetracked and never finished the conversation. Then yesterday, the following text discussion occurred:
My husband: So what was your idea for Mom?
Me: I don’t think you’ll like it. (I was referring to my real idea but then decided to have some fun)
My husband: Tell me
Me: A new daughter-in-law. The one she has now is old and worn and falling apart. It’s got a bum leg and the other isn’t too steady. It doesn’t see well either and can’t drive. It’s time.
To my surprise, I received this reply:
My husband: But the mind is still solid.
I could have offered arguments against his declaration but I didn’t. Neither of our mothers raised a fool.
