The Case of The Disappearing Job

Posted on November 10, 2010 By Sister Rain

Let me please recount for you the events in applying for a job I saw online yesterday:

> I find the job on an employment website.
> I print the job description out.
> I go to the company’s website and find the job opening in the ‘Careers’ section.
> I try to log-on so that I can apply using a previously created log-in.
> My usual password does not work so I request a temporary password be sent to me.
> I receive an email with a temporary password immediately.
> I attempt to log-on again using the temporary password.
> It does not work.
> I try again.
> It does not work.
> I click on the “Tech Support” button and let them know my problem.
> I receive an email back from them a few hours later with a new temporary password.
> I go to the company’s website and look for the job opening.
> It’s gone.
> I check again.
> It’s gone.
> I curse.
> I try again for you-know-whats and giggles.
> It’s gone.
> I email the Tech Support contact back and let them know that in less than 24 hours the job has disappeared. Even though it was just posted.
> I tear up the job description.
> I write this blog in a cathertic exercise.
> There is more cursing.
