I Am A Fan Of This Fan

I am a Sweaty Betty. Always have been, always will be. I don’t know if it’s an official gene, but I got it from my father who was the same way. Though there is no cure for the condition, there is a treatment: air blowing on my face. It doesn’t matter if it’s warm, it just has to create a breeze.

Last year after settling into our seats for a flight, it was extremely warm in the plane. The passenger parade was unusually slow which is saying something given that the loading process is never speedy. I tried opening the vent above me, but there was nothing coming out of the microscopic opening.

When my husband and I opened Christmas gifts a few months later, I unwrapped a small, portable fan. “I decided to look for something after that flight to Seattle when you were so hot waiting for takeoff,” he explained.

Packing for the next trip had me charging my new cooling device (you can also use batteries) then packing it in my airplane pouch. As is often the case, just having the fan seemed to prevent it from being hot in the aircraft.

Once we got to our destination and collected our bags, I sat outside with the luggage while Mister Rain went to get our rental car. After the marathon walk from our arrival gate to baggage claim, I was warm. I laid one of he suitcases down on the ground to sit on, leaving the second in its upright position. From my backpack I removed my airplane pouch, pulling out my fan and setting it atop the standing bag. Turning it on, I chose the fastest speed of the three then allowed myself a breath. All the preparation that it takes to travel was complete, I had landed and was about to start my  adventure. I was cooling off and I was ready.

I would use the fan the entire week, sometimes placing it on a hotel room desk to put on my makeup or when I was typing our trip diary. I also use it at home when I need a little extra oair on me.

Traveling Sweaty Bettys of the word unite! This portable fan (click here) is small, powerful, quiet and versatile. And it’s just plane cool.
